As a playwright I continue to produce original plays and adaptations of classic texts for the stage. I have also written books on applied theatre, co-creation, and inclusive practice, and developed over 40 educational resources for national touring and West End productions. My pedagogy has been featured in publications including the WJEC/Eduqas GCSE Drama Study & Revision Guide and the New Arden publication ‘Multi-sensory Shakespeare & Specialised Communities’.
My most recent play, Everyone Rotate Right written for Coddiwomple Theatre was shortlisted for the Best New Show Award at the 2025 Brighton Fringe Festival.
I am also writing a new book, The SAVVY Way, a compendium of past scripts from SAVVY Theatre Company, with insights into their creation and highlighting the inclusive, person-centred strategies used to develop them.
As a dramaturg and mentor, I have worked with emerging playwrights and theatre-makers interested in co-creation techniques. In 2022 I established the Centre Stage theatre-creation programme at SAVVY for d/Deaf and disabled artists, providing mentoring and a platform to develop and showcase their work.
I am the recipient of numerous awards including the National Creative & Cultural Skills: Creative Choices Award and have garnered international recognition for my work.
As a playwright and theatre-maker my style is often comic, embracing heightened, often silly theatrical conventions to explore challenging questions - or to simply have fun, and I prefer to develop work in the room with an ensemble of actors, utilising my skills as an improvisor and facilitator to shape the creative process.
“Packed with heart & humour. This is a witty piece of theatre, with a big heart and some great gags.”
