Creating Community Through Theatre
SAVVY created ambitious, inclusive productions and theatre experiences that brought different groups of people together. We believed everyone had the right to access quality theatre and taking part was at the heart of what we did.
It all started as an after-school drama group in 2001, before officially becoming a company in 2007 with the original aim of challenging audience and cultural perceptions of participatory theatre.
Based on the idea that going to see local theatre shouldn't be a chore or something you are forced to do because you happen to know someone in the cast, SAVVY created work that was invigorating, memorable, exciting, challenging, uplifting and fun. SAVVY created theatre that made you want to come back and take part!
During its 23 year history, SAVVY became a nationally recognised inclusive theatre company committed to developing innovative, ensemble-based shows, special projects and artist training programmes, that built the bridge to engagement and provided access to quality work.
