Artistic Director & CEO
Established 2024
"Coddiwomple" is an old English word meaning: To travel purposefully towards an as yet unknown destination.
Coddiwomple is building on the success I had as the founding Artistic Director of SAVVY Theatre Company with the aim of putting the artist at the heart of the work and the arts at the heart of society.
Why Coddiwomple?
Because it reminds us to embrace the journey and welcome the joyous surprises of the creative process.
We give ourselves permission to make mistakes, understanding that they often reveal unexpected and transformative ideas.
Guided too by a single question: Why theatre?
What is it about a story or an idea that can only be expressed, developed, or fully realised as a theatrical experience?
This question inspires us to create work that surprises, delights, and transforms.
The company's inaugural show Everyone Rotate Right was a non-verbal piece, involving full-face mask, music and clowning. It was developed in response to the invisible weight that women (in particular) carry, and was shortlisted for the "Best New Show" Award at the Brighton Fringe, 2025.
